While BlueCross BlueShield Global Solutions health plans are offered in cooperation with certain local Blue Cross and Blue Shield companies, you do not have to be currently enrolled in a Blue Cross and/or Blue Shield medical plan to purchase a BlueCross BlueShield Global Solutions plan.
BlueCross BlueShield Global Solutions plans are available for U.S. citizens and residents traveling abroad, as well as expatriates. Some plans may require existing primary health insurance in the U.S.

Some plans, like Single Trip Platinum and Multi-Trip Platinum, provide coverage for pre-existing conditions if you have a U.S. health insurance policy. It’s best to check plan details for specific eligibility.
BlueCross BlueShield Global Solutions provides access to an international network of trusted doctors and hospitals. However, some plans allow reimbursement for out-of-network care if necessary.
Claims can be filed online through the BlueCross BlueShield Global Solutions member portal or mobile app. In-network providers often bill directly, but for out-of-network services, you may need to submit receipts for reimbursement.
